Getting healthy

I've been walking for a while now ... tracking my miles on RunKeeper ( you can find me as Stacey B) and I'm coveting my friend's FitBit Flex ... but that's another story!

I say I've been walking for a while ~ but actually, I haven't for a month now.  I have a wonky ankle so I have been giving it a rest. My knees will ache when I'm done walking.  I have also been quite discouraged that my walking isn't making the numbers on the scale move ... like at all!  So ... I gave myself permission to take a break from it all.  I don't diet, so my eating habits haven't changed ... I just haven't been hitting the trail like I was ... and guess what!  The numbers STILL haven't moved!!

Anyway ... I received something in the mail a few weeks back that is making me break out the walking shoes and get moving again ...  The Dr Scholl's Active Series Insoles!!!

I have a reason to get started again ... I'm starting slowly ... not tracking or anything ... just getting back out there and moving.  I have been using the #ActiveSeries from Dr Scholls for a few weeks now ... and I see a difference.  My knees don't hurt and my feet are not as tired at the end of the day.  I'm not a runner ... even when I'm walking regularly ... I only jog for 90 seconds at a time ~ but I might be able to hit the pavement a little longer if my knees are not hurting!!  yay!!!

I totally recommend the Active Series if you are a walker, runner, hiker or really just on your feet moving for any length of time!  Go out and get yourself a pair!!

I received this product complimentary for testing purposes from Influenster, but all opinions are mine!!

40 ... is great so far!

So ... Saturday was my birthday ... my 40th birthday.  I have never been one to worry about a number ... and this is no different.  I'm just happy to be here to celebrate it!!

The day started off with doughnuts from my favorite local shop ... apple fritter ~ my absolute favorite :)
My husband's best friend's parents invited us to a cook out, so we headed there for lunch.  It was a good time ~ I really like them and they love R like a grandchild!  It's great!!  We then headed to Columbus, I had something to return to Old Navy and so we made it a trip for that and my birthday dinner.  We made a meal of a couple appetizers from O'Charleys .. so good!!  We headed home and R had a great idea of starting a fire and having s'mores on the back deck.  What a wonderful idea!!  It was a great way to end our fun day!!

I will say ~ all the yummy food took it's toll on R's belly ... It wasn't pretty and I'm sure glad the hubby was here to clean it all up ... oof!

Meal Planning

Do you meal plan? I have been trying to do a better job at it.  I did pretty good 2 weeks ago ... made a few chances according to what I could find at the store ... chicken & noodles instead of beef & noodles because who wants to eat beef fat & noodles??  Then last week went kind of kooky .... I had planned for my husband to be gone Thurs - Sun due to National Guard drill ~ but the government decided to shutdown and as a result ~ drill was canceled ... never mind that the hubby is NOW LAID OFF until further notice. sigh

Anyway ~ when I went to plan out meals for this week ... I decided to bear down and really look at what we have in the freezer and pantry ... using what we have ~ hoping for a smaller grocery bill this week.

So here it goes ...

I found a roast in the freezer (SCORE!!) ... It's going to do double duty this week!!

Monday ~ Roast Beef sammies with onions & peppers

Tues ~ Veggie soup

Wed ~ Fish, fries & green beans

Thursday ~ Leftovers

Friday ~ Homemade Pizza

Sat ~ My birthday ~ so we'll see how it goes :)

Sun ~ Supper at mom & dad's

I am just getting the hang of this meal planning ~ so I just do one week at a time ...

What is on your menu this week??
